What Are Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL)?

Implantable contact lenses, often
referred to as ICL’s, are an alternative to those who aren’t
suitable for laser eye surgery. For example in cases such as severe dry eye,
those with thin corneas or prescriptions that are out of range for laser
correction. ICL’s are made from collamer, a collagen based material that is
bio-compatible and functions in harmony with the eye, thus, it cannot be rejected
by the human body. It is often described as a micro thin contact lens which
instead of sitting on the surface of the eye is placed inside the eye.
