My son is 47 and he still doesn't like to drive. I love to drive and I was chomping at the bits to get my license. I had lessons from my dad, school and a private company. Back then it was $35 an hour. I felt very prepared. I even bought my own car with my work money. It was a dud but I still bought it on my own. Then my mom and dad got me a used car which was cool in every way possible. Push button transmission. 8 track tape player I was profiling. December 16, 2019 Reply Laurie Owen I hear you Link. I lost my mom suddenly in 2001 and my dad in 2017. Really hard during holidays, pretty sobering. But death is a part of life and I strive to be thankful for each day. December 16, 2019 Reply Susan Graham Congratulations on winning the steamies. I wooped wooped when I heard. So proud of you December 16, 2019 Reply Susan Graham Rhett looks handsome no matter what his hair looks like. I love the beard hair combo. I have a 22 year old and an 18 year old and they have no desire to drive. It's definitely different than when I was that age. My boyfriends aunt had a very bad stroke and she hasnt been home since the beginning of november. We are taking care of the house and her dog since we live with her and her will was brought up. She wont be home for Christmas so its hard on us :/ December 16, 2019 Reply Dang Gaming Since you asked, I turn on the podcast while I shower for background noise. December 16, 2019 Reply goldstepsXIII I never learned how to drive due to extreme anxiety and simply the fact I didn’t want to. I think it is okay for kids and people to not want to drive. I got a job, learned the bus routes and found alternate means of transportation. It is possible and I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I’m also saving 1000s of dollars by not paying for a car, insurance, repairs, or gas. I could go get a license at anytime if I ever need one, it is a thing that can be postponed if needed. We should let our kids do things when they are ready because we never know the reason for why they don’t wanna get behind the wheel. December 16, 2019 Reply Tod Robinson You both definitely talk louder with them on from what I hear December 16, 2019 Reply Jessica Rose My mom would always tell me to walk backwards up hills so I didn't see how much more I had to go somehow it did really make it easier lol December 16, 2019 Reply Little Polar Bear Link’s experience is so relatable and honest and i appreciate that December 16, 2019 Reply onlyiflove Just wanna say I appreciate you two and this podcast like for realz. But especially appreciate Link, I don’t know why but I just do. December 16, 2019 Reply Shiggy Martin I'm the same age as Rhett and Link and we're at the point where my family wants me to drive my mom around LA, because it's too risky and dangerous. December 16, 2019 Reply E D Gotta say I'm with link on the uber thing…I hate getting a cab or uber especially if I'm on my own it completely creeps me out. I get they are really useful and mostly safe but still not a fan. December 16, 2019 Reply Nicholas Cantrell This is how much we like your Podcast👇❤🐓🌄🎙🍵☕🍵☕ December 16, 2019 Reply Dayton Rexroat appreciate the candidness link 🖤 December 16, 2019 Reply Kaitlin Sauer Im commenting as im listening. My boyfriends aunt is about 58. Im 27. Im right now put in the middle of thinking about what to do about caring for my aunt in law since she cant take care of herself or our home after her stroke. And my parents are around the same age as her. Gets me thinking about what can i do when they cant care for themselves. I wish you could take calls on the podcast. Id love some feedback. Im too young to deal with this 😭 December 16, 2019 Reply Mangz Mallworth “Im going raw” okay zaddy! December 16, 2019 Reply Kyle Gallien I work overnights and Ear Biscuits helps make the nights not feel like drudgery! I appreciate you two! December 16, 2019 Reply Karen Rodriguez This podcast has literally saved my life because I have really bad insomnia an this is the only thing that will help me sleep. My mind finally shuts up because I’m actually interested in what they have to say and I’ll relax enough to sleep December 16, 2019 Reply Ohm Betta Fish I've followed Ear Biscuits for a good bit, but this is my first Ear Biscuits video that I've actually decided to watch. December 16, 2019 Reply Ohm Betta Fish Rhett's beard is a milestone for my goatee. December 16, 2019 Reply Kris Gaines I personally use earbiscuits to fall asleep to. I watch gmm and have for years, so to me your voices on this is just like when I was a kid listening to old friends talking around a fire. Its soothing somehow. My BF is also a mythical beast and he thinks it's weird that I use your podcasts for sleep sometimes December 16, 2019 Reply Life With Ashley I love this always. Thank you. December 16, 2019 Reply Kris Gaines Walking "backwards" both up hill and down hill is a way of keeping traction on particularly difficult slopes. It's really more of a side ways and back motion, but yeah, walking "backwards" definitely a thing. A very useful thing. December 16, 2019 Reply Kimberly Lopez Walking backwards up a hill is for your calfs, if I remember correctly December 16, 2019 Reply Elyrika Riegel I really do not like turkey.. I’m very strange when it comes to eating meat and I never used to be this way! But I would be willing to try Rhetts turkey 🤗 I’m with Link on this, I am a Ham woMAN… ☺️ December 16, 2019 Reply Valerie Bolus Last November I had the pleasure of meeting you guys as part of the VIP experience in Toronto, Ontario. You were both 100% gentlemen and I really wanted to thank you for the experience 😀 More importantly, I just wanted to send happy healthy thoughts to your families and wish you an awesome Christmas! TFBYMB! – Val December 16, 2019 Reply Christopher Nope, turkey is gross!! I don't like turkey whether it's dry or moist or in between December 16, 2019 Reply Jennifer R You dont gotta be that close. December 16, 2019 Reply Scorn97 I’m listening to this at work while I really shouldn’t be, but whatever. I have an hour left and this is an hour. It’s perfect. December 16, 2019 Reply Sarah -Sunshine I don’t understand why here, in a small South Carolina town, parallel parking is required to pass the driving test, but in a big city where you often have to parallel park, it is not required December 16, 2019 Reply emantsrif emantsal I’m 17, and I personally had to convince my mom to LET me drive places. I was so excited to get my license. I never experienced the not wanting to drive myself thing lol. December 16, 2019 Reply potridge Three observations: 1. Rhett, you are doing your kids wrong by letting them Uber. 2. Kids in the Midwest can’t wait to start driving. 3. Southerners say THANKS-givin. northerners say thanks-GIV-ing. Cute! December 16, 2019 Reply Dominik Brzozowski I was in fact on an elliptical!! December 16, 2019 Reply Team Ray Link I'm 41 also and never saw footlose December 16, 2019 Reply Half-Hearted Living I waited until I turned 18 to get my licences as well I'm a very nervous driver so it was purely fear of driving with a random person I also used the excuse that my mother was a single mother at that point and I didnt want to cost her more money December 16, 2019 Reply Jeremy Gui Link, please stop using single-use plastic products December 17, 2019 Reply ilovemartinmilner I was naive about Louis. I figured he was doing fine. I feel bad. December 17, 2019 Reply Aoife Hilton Treadmill or Elliptical? December 17, 2019 Reply Huyền Lê Best wishes for you and your family, Rhett and Link, mythical crew, mythical beasts and everyone on Earth. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Vietnam but it is close to the holiday season and family gatherings bring a lot of different emotions. I guess that's why it's happy, heart-warming and at the same time, the most suicidal time of the year. December 17, 2019 Reply flipzout100 Mom reached a point where she and my wife and I decided it best for her to move in with us. It’s been a blessing for her and us. It’s definitely a different world but good for us all. Also not an easy conversation to have about taking over management of her meds and finances and things. December 17, 2019 Reply Bree M Lew I love how honest this is. Just, real. December 17, 2019 Reply Janay Gunderman Rhett: someone is on the ellipticalMe: on the elliptical 😳 December 17, 2019 Reply Sydney Huard not gonna lie I don't get the whole license thing either, I'm 16 and I got my license on my birthday. However, I am the only one I know who did that. I know only two other people who even got theirs within a week of their birthdays. I have a friend who's 17 and doesn't have her permit yet. I guess it makes sense because all my friends have easy access to public transportation, and I don't. However, even my only friend who doesn't have access doesn't have her permit either and she's turning 16 in less than a month. I don't know, it amazes me. I can't imagine life without driving at this point. I thought about it for an entire year. December 17, 2019 Reply michael p Your guys podcast is my absolute #1 I know it doesnt get as many views as GMM but I appreciate it alot. December 17, 2019 Reply HotDommy When I was a kid I was taking my parents cars in the middle of the night picking up my friends cruising around. I got my DL as soon as I turned 16! I could not wait! Now I don't want to drive anywhere 😩 December 17, 2019 Reply Iissafaith Link, my sincere sympathies for your mom's husband's very difficult health problems – I hope his recovery continues, and I wish the best for your mom, too. December 17, 2019 Reply Half-Hearted Living Sometimes I forget that death is a thing my mom is 69 and the times I forget the average age of humans in the US and then suddenly my brain reminds me that these might be my last years with her. We rely on each other to live with out one or the other we would lose the house and honestly I always hoped I would die before her or soon after so I dont have to deal with it because I cant imagine being without her. December 17, 2019 Reply AwesomeKitCat I was 50 minutes into this podcast before I realised you call "stuffing," "dressing."I thought you were talking about like, salad dressing the whole time and I didnt understand why you had a salad dressing made of bread. December 17, 2019 Reply Julie Williamson Link, I usually listen to ear biscuits while cleaning, especially doing dishes. It keeps me motivated to keep going until the podcast is over! But today I’m watching the video version while wrapping Christmas presents 🎁 😊 December 17, 2019 Reply Mary Rose Lalli What is wrong with teenagers?!?! I have heard this same story from so many parents. My nieces and nephews have all gotten theirs right away but their are unique amongst their friends. I just don’t understand!!!! December 17, 2019 Reply CJ Carpenter I was like Rhett, I couldn't wait to get my license, that's all I wanted for months. The difference is that I only got my license 9 years ago, so idk if it's a generation thing or location, because I live in an extremely rural area and you basically can't do much without a license. December 18, 2019 Reply BananaBread Things Somber subject this week 😗 December 18, 2019 Reply RPGaming #videogamethingies December 18, 2019 Reply Shanda Mell I'm wrapping Christmas presents while watch/listening 😁 December 18, 2019 Reply Christie Periman my daughter is 18 and has no desire to drive a car!! December 18, 2019 Reply Kaile Thanks for the awesome audio whilst I make gingerbread houses December 18, 2019 Reply Yakisoba Dreams That's what family (by blood or found, I don't discriminate) and friendship is all about: sharing both the hurt and the happiness. Humans are social beings. The familial bonds keep us alive. December 18, 2019 Reply Craig Borden I've been listening to Ear Biscuits for ages now but this was the first one I watched. I loved it as usual December 18, 2019 Reply Linga_Theboss Hahaha the duct tape on the back up camera December 18, 2019 Reply C. Babs This episode went deep. Really got me thinking about my family and getting older and what all that means. Life is crazy. December 18, 2019 Reply Szabó Tamás does nobody use public transportation anymore??? Many reasons to use it. MUCH cheaper, in rush hour especially if you use tram or metro it is much faster, also you have less of a carbon footprint. I din't really see the point of a car just to transport yourself, I get if if you need it for transporting equipment for work or something or a whole group of people, but just to get from point A to point B there's much better ways! December 18, 2019 Reply Mack Thank goodness I'm not the only one with this issue. My kids are the same way! I'm so glad I listened to this! December 18, 2019 Reply punxie89 I never went for my license. I'm turning 30 now. Which is weird to say, because I don't feel that old…it's kind of scary that I've been alive for that long because the last 10 years felt like 5 in retrospect. Time is weird. But I'm a very easily distracted person, and I'm very clumsy as well. I also struggle with a lot of anxiety, and I knew all of this when I was younger and didn't feel confident enough to even try getting my license. I don't trust myself to not cause an accident. I can't even trust my own two feet sometimes lol. Luckily I live in a city where you can easily walk to a lot of places, and my boyfriend now has his own car so when we do need to go somewhere far he drives. And I'll take public transit otherwise. December 18, 2019 Reply Jill Koczent I paused this to say the pioneer woman ruined the pulled pork at my son's graduation party. I followed the recipe exactly and not one person could stomach the result. 8lbs of pork in the garbage. Sad. December 18, 2019 Reply Kris Postava I take care of my bedridden mom. We don't qualify for care help, and on a teacher salary, I cant afford to keep her in a nursing home and keep my house too. So I take care of her. Trust me, once you start cleaning an adult mess, you get over it. It is just like having a grumpy toddler. You will do whatever you need to do to take care of them when it happens. A lot of times, you can't even get ready for what is coming your way. When the time comes for you guys to make care choices, here is my only thought for you, dont make any sibling do it by themaelves. It is too hard. My sister helps me on occasion, and it is the only way I keep my sanity. I hope Mr. Lewis is on a road to recovery. My thoughts for your families. – Teacher Kris, Pittsburgh December 18, 2019 Reply Destiny Hamlin Please make a video where y’all go into a gym and share every piece of equipment they offer. Only hidden cameras so we can see people’s genuine reactions. December 18, 2019 Reply Daddelbox I usually do chores while listening to Ear Biscuits, to answer your question. December 19, 2019 Reply Judith Montel You guys – you both deserve to be very proud of yourselves, both on the count of coaching up a teen to drive and on the turkey count. Bravo! Listen – parenting and hosting are a LOT of work. Thanks for the inspiration and for being such good role models. That's REAL. PS Sending wishes of good health to everyone in your families. And many thanks for letting us know how they've been doing. Hugs! December 19, 2019 Reply Calvin Byrne So happy you guy finally Won!!! Congratulations!!! December 19, 2019 Reply Danniella Boling I walk backwards uphill when my muscles are tired, it works different ones and gives me a break December 20, 2019 Reply moccalou I just realized the opening to Ear Biscuits is the opening to the Christmas sweats song. That's just a red sweatsuit. You see that every other mother fruitcakin' day! December 20, 2019 Reply Aaron Johnson I just realized.. just how relaxing this podcast is. It's so easy to listen to. Thanks everyone on the team. December 20, 2019 Reply Patrick Pfeuffer Automobiles are not freedom! They are weapons of mass destruction that destroy society and the planet! December 20, 2019 Reply Josh Ives thank you both for putting harder everyday thoughts we all have into words we can hear. it truly is helpful. i wonder when and how to take care of my loved ones just the same. December 20, 2019 Reply Call Me Rive You don't have any city public transport in the US, like buses, trains, underground? 🙂 You talk about driving like it's the only way to get to some other place (ok, there's Uber also, you have Uber :).I mean, with all that stuff abt saving the planet and such – isn't public transport is more eco-friendly, especially electric public transportation systems? 😉 December 20, 2019 Reply Shayla Storm Triple Turkey Thursday 🤣 December 21, 2019 Reply Laney Riley Walking uphill while listening… I tried walking backwards. It puts all the weight on your heels instead of your toes, which fires up the posterior chain, so definitely less knee pain. It does feel weird, though. Lol. Like you're gonna fall uphill. 😅 December 22, 2019 Reply Cheryl Berg def going to check out the dolly parton's america podcast December 22, 2019 Reply Caroline Kridle Rhett's gettin on my nerves abt the driving thing. I mean I understand. But also I'm almost 20 and I'm just now working on getting the license. I think it's just a generational thing. My bf finally got his license at 18. It's pretty common, just depends on the kid and the family. December 23, 2019 Reply Add a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
